Young NASCAR driver Mason Maggio is readying himself for an exciting new chapter in his career. At just 20 years old, he has signed to compete part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series for the 2025 season with Joey Gase Motorsports, as expected by Newsweek Sports.
After a recent rebranding and co-ownership changes, the team is opening its garage doors to Maggio for a series of multi-race events.
Maggio's journey to this opportunity is backed by a series of key performances and experiences accrued over the past couple of years. His relationship with Joey Gase Motorsports isn't new; he previously drove with the team in 2024 and achieved some of his best results in the Xfinity Series, including a noteworthy 18th place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway and 22nd at Martinsville Speedway.
His journey in NASCAR between 2022 and 2024 saw him starting 21 times in the Craftsman Truck Series and eight times in the Xfinity Series, bringing him vital experience.
The 2024 season proved to be particularly substantial for Maggio as he took part in 11 Craftsman Truck Series races, many of which were under the banner of Floridian Motorsports, a team with an interesting backstory. Scott Osteen, the team's former owner, had nursed a long-standing ambition to start a NASCAR team, which bore fruit with Maggio as a key driver. The team made its debut at the famed Daytona International Speedway, an occasion for both driver and team. Throughout 2024, Maggio also raced with Reaume Brothers Racing, though he continued to have select appearances in the Xfinity Series.
There have been big developments leading to Maggio's new stint with Joey Gase Motorsports. Scott Osteen, having moved roles to co-owner of Joey Gase Motorsports, has effectively brought Maggio into the fold of his new team. This decision is in line with the rebranding and partnership efforts of Joey Gase Motorsports, designed to improve their competitiveness and possibly draw more resources to support drivers who deserve it, such as Maggio. Though the details of Maggio's race schedule for the 2025 season are yet to be finalized, he is confirmed to be participating in multiple races, with the anticipation surrounding his return to the track high.
Mason Maggio is excited about his return.
"Signed and ready to go for 2025!" he posted to X.
"Excited to be running multiple races in the @NASCAR_Xfinity Series with@J_G_Motorsports this season! Super thankful for @JoeyGaseRacing & @ScottOsteen55 giving me this opportunity along with all our partners for making this possible for us!"
Looking ahead, the future seems bright for Mason Maggio. The details of his first race in 2025 remain under wraps; but typical NASCAR event scheduling suggests it will be one of the early fixtures of the season.
