Fans of Matthew Perry paid tribute to the Friends star with a memorial built at his final resting place on the one-year anniversary of his death, In Touch can exclusively reveal.

Fans were seen visiting Matthew’s gravesite at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles on Monday, October 28, as seen in photos obtained by In Touch. Many of them left flowers and other tributes to the late actor, including Batman stickers and a pumpkin with the Batman logo carved into it. The Fools Rush In star was known to be a big fan of the Caped Crusader.

Matthew died at 54 years old on October 28, 2023, after an apparent drowning in the hot tub at his Pacific Palisades home. However, the Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing author’s cause of death was later determined as the “acute effects of ketamine.”

Matthew had been receiving ketamine infusion therapy to treat anxiety and depression, but his last treatment had been a week and a half before his death. An investigation into his death found that the ketamine that he ingested prior to his drowning was not legally prescribed by a doctor.

On August 15, Dr. Mark Chavez, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, Erik Fleming, Kenneth Iwamasa and Jasveen Sangha, a woman known as “the Ketamine Queen,” were arrested for their roles in Matthew’s death. Chavez, 54, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine on October 2. Iwamasa, 59, and Fleming, 54, also both pleaded guilty in the case. Meanwhile, Sangha, 41, and Plasencia, 42, pleaded not guilty.

Fans were not the only ones to remember Matthew on the anniversary of his death. His Friends costar Jennifer Aniston took to Instagram to share throwback photos of the actor, along with the caption, “1 year.” She added bandaged heart and dove emojis and tagged the Matthew Perry Foundation, which was formed in November 2023 to fulfill the Emmy nominee’s wish of helping those who are struggling with addiction.

His family, including mom Suzanne Morrison, dad Keith Morrison and sisters Caitlin, Emily and Madeline Morrison, also reflected on his death in a rare interview with Savannah Guthrie on Today on Monday. Suzanne, 76, opened up about one of her final conversations with her son.

“He went through a period, interestingly enough, just before he died when he was showing me one of his new houses,” she said. “He came up to me and he said, ‘I love you so much, and I’m so happy to be with you now. And I’m so …’”

Though Suzanne didn’t think anything of it at the time, it later occurred to her that there was something odd about her conversation with Matthew.

“It was almost as though it was a premonition or something. I didn’t think about it at the time, but I thought, ‘How long has it been since we’ve had a conversation like that?’ It’s been years,” she continued. “There was an inevitability to what was going to happen next to him, and he felt it very strongly.”

The former press secretary concluded, “But he said, ‘I’m not frightened anymore.’ And it worried me.”
