The former home of the late actor Matthew Perry was recently sold for $8.5 million a year after his death. Perry, known worldwide for his role as Chandler Bing on the television series Friends, died at this property on October 28, 2023 at the age of 54.

Although it was initially reported that his death was caused by an apparent drowning in the hot tub of his residence, a subsequent autopsy revealed that the official cause was "acute effects of ketamine," in addition to traces of opioids in his system.

The reason behind the house being on the market

The property, a mid-century modernist-style home, spans approximately 3,500 square feet and features four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms. The original construction dates back, according to The New York Times, to 1965 and was renovated by Perry after acquiring it in 2020 for $6 million.

One of the details that reflected the actor's personality was the decoration inspired by his love for Batman, however many believe that the fact that it sold for so much more is because he passed away inside the home.

The sale of the house was carried out discreetly, outside the public market. According to reports, the buyer was Anita Verma-Lallian, a prominent real estate developer and film producer based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Verma-Lallian representatives confirmed that the property will be integrated into its real estate investment portfolio, aligned with its business strategy.
