Singer Matty Healy has seemingly hit out at his ex-fling Taylor Swift and said he wasn't interested in writing lyrics about his 'casual' romances.
The 1975 frontman briefly dated Taylor in May through to the beginning of June last year after first being linked nearly a decade before. Many fans even suspected Taylor's latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, would focus heavily on her relationship with ex-boyfriend of six years, Joe Alwyn, but it appeared many of the tracks hint at her short-lived romance with Matty.
Taylor moved on with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce while Matty moved on with singer Gabbriette - who he got engaged to earlier this year. In a new interview, Matty, 35, seemingly threw a jab at Love Story singer Taylor, 34, when he said he 'isn't interested' in writing songs about flings.
During an appearance on Joshua Citarella’s Doomscroll Podcast, he said: "If I made a record about, I don’t know, all the stuff that was said about me, or my casual romantic liaisons, or my, whatever it may be, that I’ve kind of become known for, just because I was famous.
“I think that’s an obvious thing to draw from. I’m just not interested in it. And I think that the maintenance of the status quo is something that I always fight against. So the idea of making a record about something that personally happened to me, that by the time I put it out is going to be like, two years old.”

My work is, I hope, interesting art pop that provokes, that maybe helps popularise academic subjects that I’m really interested in.” In June 2023, Matty and Taylor's short-lived romance fizzled out with a source telling ET that they weren't "really compatible with each other".
Taylor appeared to shine a light on why they didn't work out with a series of cryptic lyrics in her album. In But Daddy I Love Him, she seemed to criticise fans for "sanctimonious" critiques of their relationship while The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived suggested she was ghosted by the singer. "Was any of it true? Gazing at me starry-eyed in your Jehovah's Witness suit," she sang. "Who the f**k was that guy? You tried to buy some pills from a friend of friends of mine. They just ghosted you. Now you know what it feels like."
Matty is famous for performing on stage in a suit and has previously opened up on his own battles with substance abuse. In other songs, such as I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can), Taylor slammed the "revolting" jokes of the man she loves and in loml, she reflected on rekindling a past romance that fell apart as quickly as it resumed.
