Max George has undergone major surgery following issues with his heart.
The singer has been documenting his health issues with fans on social media following his admission to hospital. On Saturday, he took to Instagram to share that he had successfully had a pacemaker fitted. In a statement while sharing an image of the scar on his collarbone, he said: "Say hello to my little friend! Given the last 10 days, this is the best Christmas present I could've ever wished for.
"Pacemaker is in. Operation took around 2 and half hours. The main issue being some of my veins had collapsed where the wires were meant to go… But the surgeons and nurses at the NHS have been incredible. I owe everything to them. The surgeon kindly put my pacemaker just underneath a very special tattoo of mine.. So I'm sure it's being looked after." Max's 'special tattoo' is the date of birth of his late bandmate, Tom Parker, who tragically died in 2022 following a brave battle with glioblastoma.
Manchester-born Max went on to add: "Few more tests to do due to inflamed lymph nodes on my lungs, but that’ll be easy work! Time to rest and then tackle life full on once again. Thank you for all your support. It’s meant a hell of a lot to myself and my family. Much love, Max."

Instagram/maxgeorge)The NHS describes a pacemaker as "a small electrical device" which "sends electrical pulses to your heart to keep it beating regularly and not too slowly". A pacemaker is connected directly to the heart - with wires called pacing leads inserted into a vein and threaded through blood vessels to the blood pumping organ.
Since being hospitalised earlier this month, Max has been keeping concerned fans updated on his progress as doctors battled to improve the conditions of his heart rate. He revealed on December 12 in an Instagram post: "Yesterday I felt really unwell and was taken in to hospital. Unfortunately after some tests they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart.
"I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet. It’s gonna be a difficult few weeks / months… and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned! But, as always, I’m surrounded with love and support from my wonderful partner Maisie, her family, my family and friends.. and I’m 100% in the best place."
After revealing his pacemaker fitting surgery had been a success on Saturday, the Chasing The Sun star has been met with a wall of support from fans. One wrote in the comments section of his latest post: "Get well soon max . Sending you all my love . Twfanmily are with you always." And another typed: "Max your braver and stronger than you think . Sending you all my love and support."
