Meghan Markle is peeling back the curtain on her and Prince Harry’s private holiday plans — and the icon who once joined them.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, told Marie Claire Friday that she and her husband’s Thanksgiving party is “always pretty low-key” and that they treasure “being so close” to her mom, Doria Ragland.
The Sussexes live in a lavish $14 million home in Montecito, Calif., which they moved into after leaving the UK and their duties as senior members of the British royal family in 2020.
Ragland, for her part, has always been based in Los Angeles, where Markle grew up, but reportedly has a two-bedroom guesthouse on her daughter’s California property when she is in town to visit.
The “Suits” alum also told Marie Claire that she and her family always made sure they have “something fun to do” over the holidays.
“Like any other family you spend time having a great meal and then what do you do? Play games, all the same stuff, someone brings a guitar — fun,” Markle shared. “Every single holiday is a new adventure.”
The duchess shares two children with Harry: Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. The mom of two added that it’s important for her to create the “magic” of traditions for her kids, including “great recipes” and “carrots for reindeers” come Christmas time.
Despite the Sussex’s fairly normal pastimes, they once had an extra special guest pay them a visit on Thanksgiving.
“Like many of us, I think you always make sure there’s room at the table for your friends who don’t have family, which is really key,” Markle shared, revealing feminism advocate Gloria Steinem once joined.
Although the Sussexes have chosen to stay stateside this year for the holidays, they reportedly received an invite from Princess Diana’s side of the family to spend Christmas with them in England.
“Charles [Spencer] has invited Harry, Meghan and the children to Althorp this Christmas,” a source told the Express in September.

“It’s far too early to say whether they will take him up on it, but the offer is there if they want it.”
The Post confirmed Thursday that Markle and Harry, 40, will ring in the festive season in Montecito.
The couple continues to be estranged from the British royal family and were reportedly snubbed from their annual holiday get-together at Sandringham House.
