Meghan Trainor Opens Up About Cosmetic Procedure That Left Her Unable To Smile

Meghan Trainor is opening up about a recent facial procedure that didn’t turn out how she’d hoped.

In an episode of the podcast “Workin’ On It,” which she co-hosts with her brother Ryan Trainor, the singer candidly discussed her experience with botulinum toxin, widely known as Botox.

“To all my fellow girlies out there who are in your 30s out there, hi,” she told her audience earlier this month. “I got too much Botox, and I need help.”

The “All About That Bass” singer said she’d had Botox injections, which are often used to smooth wrinkles, a “handful of times” in various parts of her face. She described opting for a “lip flip” procedure, which uses Botox to relax the upper lip and make it appear fuller, in order to give her “little lips” a boost.

“It was not true,” Trainor said, adding that as a result of the Botox, she now has trouble moving her face. “I cannot smile anymore,” she said. “Everywhere I go, I cannot smile.”

According to the Cleveland Clinic, lip flips can also cause drooling and difficulty speaking if the Botox is injected too close to a person’s mouth.

Trainor said she now realizes that her smile “lights up a room,” and when it’s not there, “it’s a dim light.”

Trainor is not the only celebrity get candid about cosmetic procedures lately. In a recent interview, Christina Applegate discussed her experience with plastic surgery.

Applegate said that when she was 27, a producer on one of her projects suggested she get the bags under her eyes surgically removed — and she obliged.

The actor went on to say how the procedure still causes her a great deal of shame because of the “seeds [people] plant into your head” about your appearance.
