There might not be any love lost between Melania Trump and Jill Biden. The current first lady extended an invitation to the White House for tea on Wednesday, Nov. 13, but Melania isn’t coming. Her husband, President-elect Donald Trump, is meeting with President Joe Biden, so it was an opportunity for the two women to share a moment together. However, Melania was reportedly not interested.
“She ain’t going,” a source told the New York Post. “Jill Biden’s husband authorized the FBI snooping through her underwear drawer. Jill Biden isn’t someone Melania needs to meet.” It sounds like the incoming first lady isn’t interested in any White House traditions, especially since she’s holding a grudge against the Bidens for her husband’s FBI raid at Mar-a-Lago on Aug. 8, 2022.

Her reported grievance goes against what was originally shared in the press when the investigation into classified documents landed on her Florida home doorstep. A CNN source claimed in 2022 that she was “annoyed” by the situation while another insider noted that “she cared, but not like he cared.” They reportedly kept separate bedroom suites at Mar-a-Lago and “she would never allow him to keep his stuff in her room.” Of course, that allegedly didn’t stop the investigators from rummaging through her belongings as well.
The White House “tea and tour” had been a Washington, D.C. tradition since 1952 when Bess Truman invited Mamie Eisenhower to get a look at the place she would be calling home. The event has been honored by every succeeding first lady until Melania broke protocol in 2021 when she did not extend that courtesy to Jill. Melania’s former aide Stephanie Grisham, author of I’ll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw at the Trump White House, spilled the tea to the Jan. 6 House select committee on why the then-first lady did not extend an olive branch to Jill.
“I was trying to gently say to her — because, again, so often she did things no matter — independent of her husband, and she did what she felt was right. So, I was trying to gently say, maybe we reach out and do this anyway,” Grisham said about honoring the “tea and tour” tradition. Instead, Melania decided to go along with her husband’s belief that the 2020 election was stolen, and that Jill was not going to be welcomed to the White House by her.
It’s a feud that has brewed for four years now and Jill’s kind gesture was declined. The Trumps and the Bidens’ complicated history isn’t going to have a happy ending — at least with the first ladies.
