Meredith Marks Reveals She Had Prison Call With Jen Shah: ‘Happy To Hear Her Voice Again’

Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. At least that’s what I’ve heard. Does that mean that Jen Shah, one of reality TV’s biggest sinners, has a shot at being on our television screens again? According to Meredith Marks, maybe! The once-frosty relationship between castmates seems to have thawed enough to occasionally check in with one another. Meredith even enjoyed a call from Jen’s prison recently! Here are the deets…

The Jen Shah call was short but sweet for Meredith Marks

While speaking with PEOPLE, Meredith revealed that she is in touch with Jen. Last year, Jen began serving six-and-a-half years for her role in a telemarketing scheme and is serving her time at a Texas Federal prison. Her infamous arrest played out during Season 2 of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.

As for Meredith and Jen’s recent chat, Meredith described it as “very light.”

“First of all, it was a 10-minute call — that’s all you’re allowed — and it’s on a recorded line by the government, so I was very careful because I didn’t know what I’m supposed to say or not say,” she shared. “It was pretty surface. ‘How are you? How are the kids? How’s Sharrieff [Shah]?’ stuff like that.”

“I was just happy to hear her voice again,” Meredith added. “She sounds like she’s doing well. She sounds like she’s really working on herself. And I was glad to hear that.”

Regarding a possible redemption arc for Jen, Meredith is also open to that. The rest of the cast is still undecided.

“Accountability goes a long way in our circle. We’re human. We all do things that we’re not proud of that are wrong at times,” Meredith explained.

“This is a big one, obviously; it’s a bad one. But she’s in prison,” the boutique owner went on to say. “She’s serving her time. She’s paying restitution. I mean, she’s not earning a ton of money, but she’s doing what she can. And that’s all a big price to pay. I don’t know what more you can ask from her.”

Jen is scheduled for release in December of 2027, after her sentence was reduced.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
