Michelle Keegan announces she's expecting her first child with husband Mark WrightMark Wright and his ex-girlfriend Lauren Goodger had a near miss just days before he surprised fans by announcing that his wife, Michelle Keegan, is pregnant with their first child. The 37-year-old former TOWIE star had a well-documented relationship with 38-year-old Lauren that lasted for 10 years before they finally called it quits in 2012.
Mark then began dating Michelle, 37, whom he wed in 2015 and this weekend announced they are expecting their first baby together. The joyous news was shared on Sunday, but just over a week prior, Mark and Lauren nearly crossed paths while he was out celebrating a family member's birthday.
The reality star was out with his wife and family to celebrate Mark Wright Sr's 68th birthday at Sheesh in Essex, with James Argent providing the night's entertainment. However, there was an unexpected turn of events when Mark Jr and his wife Michelle realised that Lauren was at the same venue.
Mark's sister Jess Wright was spotted entering the popular Essex spot, passing Lauren's parked Range Rover on her way in. To avoid any awkward encounters, Mark and Michelle made a discreet entrance through a fire exit to dodge Lauren.
Their Range Rover was later brought around to the car park for a quick getaway. Despite it being ten years since their breakup, it seems Mark is still eager to avoid any potential reunion, reports the Mirror.
Now, just days later, Mark and Michelle have announced they are expecting their first child together. Mark and Michelle took to Instagram on Sunday to share a joyful picture of them together on a beach. Dressed in white, Michelle was seen wearing a stylish outfit that showcased her growing bump while she protectively cradled her belly.
Mark was pictured walking barefoot towards her. Sharing their exciting news on their main grids, Michelle and Mark simply captioned the post: "2025 is going to be a special one for us..." alongside a baby face emoji and a white heart emoji.
The couple's pregnancy announcement was met with an outpouring of support and well wishes from their fans and followers. One responded to their Instagram post saying: "Awwwww Congratulations this is amazing news." Another commented: "I'm so so happy for you guys. Just the best."
In the past, Michelle has expressed her frustration over the pressure women face regarding motherhood - especially when the person asking might not know their circumstances.
She told the Mirror: "It's horrible. People don't know if we're trying. They don't know the background of what's happening. In this day and age, you shouldn't be asking questions like that," she asserted. "I'm asked purely because I'm a woman. I'm immune to it now – it's like a reaction, and as soon as I hear it I brush it off as it's no one else's business."
