Michelle Visage says 'open relationship' makes 28-year marriage to husband stronger

Michelle Visage, the renowned drag icon and beloved RuPaul's Drag Race judge, has candidly shared details of her open marriage.

The TV star spoke about how she and her husband David Case embrace honesty in their 28-year-long relationship which, according to her, strengthens their connection.

On the Origins With Cush Jumbo podcast, the 56-year-old recounted her journey to meeting her husband, saying: “So when I met David, I was 26. I got married at 27. Still young.”

She shared: “We've been together for 28 years now and I met him in New York City in Central Park and I had just gotten out of a relationship that was like the love of my life and he destroyed me.

“After that, I had a summer of debauchery and then I met David in Central Park and he was so opposite. He was very much like Michael, my ex-fiance.”

Visage didn't hesitate to shed light on the dynamics of their unconventional arrangement as she explained: “We live openly, so he would get off knowing that I was so happy and no matter what it is that I do, and I'm not just talking sexually.

“Whatever it is, I don't know if I have compersion in me to be really excited if he's doing something with another woman but I know that it exists and he is 100 percent that."

Often described as the opposite of jealousy, compersion is the joy someone feels from another's happiness.

“The full transparency of the way we live our lives. Completely and, by the way, sometimes it's not even necessary.”

“It's just, meaning, we don't do anything. It's just the ability to be able to. [...] And that's what works for us.”

Married since 1997, Michelle and David now reside in California and are proud parents to their two daughters, Lillie and Lola.

To mark their anniversary, the star shared a heartfelt selfie with her beloved spouse on social media and penned: “26 years! ! ! Love, kindness, patience, understanding, forgiveness, consciousness, teamwork, the list goes on and on.... Forever my love, we are unstoppable. @jaxspenser HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! ".

Although David usually shies away from the spotlight, he too shared his affection and posted: “26 years to this wonderful young beautiful, intelligent, funny lady! You keep me happy and in love every single day and I can't imagine a moment of life without you. Love you deeply and forever... Happy Anniversary, @michellevisage.”
