Microsoft could release a Universal share button for Windows 11

Microsoft is planning to give more duties to the share button with upcoming Windows 11 operating system updates. It is being said that Windows developers are testing a universal Share button in the latest build of Windows Insider. And the same is also available to Windows Insiders in the Beta and Dev channels. As of now, we can’t confirm the availability of the universal share button depending on the app on Windows.

Windows 11 Universal Share Button details

The latest feature of the Windows 11 button will allow the share button to function across the Start menu, taskbar, and OS. All the users will be able to share links, texts, or even files without any inconvenience from their desktops. Users will also be able to right-click and see the Share Icon or Share this item dialogue on their Windows machine. A popular Windows Insider who goes by the name of Phantomofearth on X.com (formerly Twitter) revealed the mentioned feature in the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4445.

Phantomofearth did the same with a third-party app called ViveTool. For those who are unaware, ViveTool is an application that reveals secret features within the code of Windows 11 software. The tipster also mentioned that the Share button is disabled on Build 22635 but it can be enabled with a set of commands:

As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding the launch of the feature for the stable version of the Windows operating system. Speculations are that if passes the Dev and beta stage with flying colors then we will definitely get to see the same in the stable Windows 11 operating system.
