Mom Leaves Husband To Dress Baby, Can't Stop Laughing at Result—'Confusion'

A first-time mom couldn't help but laugh after seeing the results of her husband dressing their four-month-old son.

When it comes to a child's basic needs, most moms would probably say they do more than their partners. This was best reflected in a 2023 Pew Research Center survey in which 57 percent of moms said they felt they did more of the basics like bathing, feeding or changing their infant's diapers, than the child's dad did.

Dads saw things slightly differently, of course with a 56 percent majority answering that these responsibilities were shared by both parents about equally.

It's still early days for 25 year olds Holly and Mitchell Fischer from Franklin, Tennessee. Their son, Landon, is just four-months-old. However, when it comes to their son's sartorial choices, Holly has taken the lead.

"I am the one who dresses Landon since I've been on maternity leave while my husband is working," Holly told Newsweek. "Mitchell doesn't quite have the same eye for outfits that I do and has been known to dress both Landon and himself in some... interesting combinations."

Holly said Mitchell tends to dress Landon in "anything with zippers or magnets" as they are easy to get on and off. "It wasn't until the last six weeks that he even attempted a buttoned onesie," she said. "He cares more about function than cuteness—and he's convinced that Landon agrees with him."

But while practicality might be at the heart of Mitchell's outfit choices for their son, it hasn't prevented him from committing the kind of fashion faux pas that goes beyond pleated pants.

Mitchell had been happy enough to dress their son Landon for the day but within about 10 minutes, Holly spotted a problem with his outfit. "I noticed it as soon as Mitchell brought Landon into our closet and immediately grabbed my phone because it was hysterical," she said.

The resulting footage was posted to TikTok by Holly under the handle hollyfischer_ and captured her husband's "confusion" when she told him the unfortunate truth: Landon's outfit had been put on back-to-front. "Mitchell clearly had no idea—his reaction in the video says it all," Holly said. "I thought the breast pocket on Landon's back was a pretty big giveaway, but he didn't even notice."

In his defense, Holly agreed that some baby outfits "can be tricky" to work out. "This one had buttons on the back to make it easier to go over the head," she said. "Mitchell thought they were 'chest buttons,' like a Henley-style shirt, so he didn't realize anything was off!"

However, that didn't stop her, or him, from having a laugh together about it. "These are the kinds of moments I can't wait to show Landon one day—his dad just being a guy in his 20s, figuring out fatherhood," she said. "Although outfits may not be Mitchell's strong suit, he's probably changed more diapers than me—so we all have our strengths!"
