Netflix has unveiled the trailer for its latest edge-of-your-seat thriller, Carry-On, and it seems to have left fans thoroughly impressed.
The action-packed film centres on a young TSA officer who finds himself coerced into smuggling a perilous package onto a flight scheduled for Christmas Day.
Starring Taron Egerton of Rocketman fame, Sofia Carson from Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionist, and the esteemed Jason Bateman, the cast is a blend of emerging talent and established stars.
Behind the camera is Jaume Collet-Serra, known for directing a range of films from House of Wax and Orphan to Jungle Cruise and Black Adam.
Produced by DreamWorks Pictures and Dylan Clark Productions, Carry-On was shot in New Orleans, Louisiana over the course of 2022 to 2023, reports the Mirror.
In the gripping trailer, we see Ethan (played by Taron) being blackmailed through an anonymous phone call that demands he allows a man to board a flight with his luggage undetected.
When Ethan hesitates, the unseen antagonist threatens: "Let's cancel the text, or we execute your girlfriend."
The ensuing chase to uncover the blackmailer promises to keep audiences firmly on the edge of their seats.
The YouTube comments section has been abuzz with excitement since the trailer's release, with one Netflix enthusiast exclaiming: "Wow, this is one of the best netflix trailers in a while, this movie looks," followed by a fire emoji.
One fan enthused: "A cool combo of things in one: action thriller; set at Christmas; has Taron Edgerton, Sofia Carson and Jason Bateman; directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. I'm here for it."
Another viewer wrote: "It's not just in the vein of Phone Booth but also Die Hard and Lethal Weapon...it's gonna be an amazing Christmas movie that will be watched by people every Christmas!"
A third quipped: "Netflix out here coming for that Die Hard "favorite 'technically' a Christmas movie" crown."
A fourth fan commented: "Red Eye and Phonebooth vibes but I am there for Jason Bateman as the villain."
Taron Edgerton has been making a name for himself in Hollywood with notable roles, including his portrayal of Elton John in Rocketman and his appearances in the Kingsman films.
Carry-On will be available to watch on Netflix on December 13
