Nicole Young was reportedly “put on pause” from filming on Selling Sunset‘s upcoming ninth season in late 2024. This came after an “explosive incident” involving Chrishell Stause and Emma Hernan.

After being called out for telling a “damaging” and “disgusting lie” about Emma, 35, supposedly having an affair with a married man during season eight, Nicole, 39, was said to have been “abruptly” removed from production — with no word on when she may return.

According to production sources who spoke to TMZ on January 22, Nicole, who joined the show for its sixth season, attended an all-cast event in November 2024, where she got along with everyone — until Chrishell, 43, and Emma arrived. At that point, the ladies engaged in a “heated” discussion as cameras rolled.

Following the messy encounter, Nicole filmed a one-on-one scene with Jason Oppenheim, 47, who encouraged her to “take a step back” from her role at The Oppenheim Group, which is where the series is based.

Since then, Nicole hasn’t filmed “anything,” and her role on the show “remains in limbo.”

As Selling Sunset fans will recall, Chrishell called out Nicole before the premiere of season eight last year, threatening to quit the series as she slammed Nicole’s lie about Emma.

“I will never work on a show with her again,” she told Extra TV in September 2024. “After eight seasons and seeing someone systematically try to plot against several people… Why are we giving her more airtime? The audience doesn’t want to see this or hear this. When somebody’s just hungry for camera time and lies, the audience is over it. We’re big personalities, we’re dealing in high luxury real estate stakes. There is drama that doesn’t need to be blatant lies and just trying to, like, fight for camera time. I think that’s way more interesting.”

“I really have a moral code that just doesn’t want to be involved with something that would give her more air time,” she added.

Chrishell also mentioned creator Adam DiVello and their production company, Done and Done.

“You are disgusting for blindsiding [Emma] with this to see with the world instead of letting her at LEAST defend herself with the TRUTH,” she declared.

Selling Sunset season nine is expected to begin streaming on Netflix sometime later this year.
