Singer-songwriter Louise Wener, now 58, serves as the band's vocalist and rhythm guitarist.

She appeared on Channel 5 News earlier this week - and appeared to have hardly aged since the band's 90s run.

Louise spoke to Dan Walker ahead of Sleeper marking a huge occasion.

They are set to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut single.

Having reunited in 2017, the band will honour this milestone by embarking on a greatest hits tour.

Dan asked Louise what being a frontwoman in a "laddish" culture had been like.

She replied: "Some people don't remember it, but I think we were just treated on a different level.

"So we were objectified. It was lots of sexualisation of it.

"I just think we were held to a different set to standards, maybe, than some of the guys were."

Addressing the passing of time, Louise said: "It feels like 30 years and yesterday. It just feels like an eternity.

"But it's lovely to be out doing it again. It's been amazing."

Sleeper recorded three full-length albums prior to their 1998 split: Smart, The It Girl and Pleased to Meet You.

Since reforming in 2017, the band have recorded two further albums, titled The Modern Age and This Time Tomorrow.

Sleeper's origins trace back to Louise meeting guitarist Jon Stewart in 1987.

The band name itself comes from Woody Allen's 1973 film of the same name.
