Music is subjective, there's no denying it. Someone's favorite song can easily be hated by another human being. That's just the nature of how human hearing and the brain works. So when lists come out of a person's top songs, there will always be some controversy, especially if it's coming from a high-profile figure.
Barack Obama doesn't care about that. Despite the potential backlash, the former President comes out with his favorite songs list every year. His summer playlist is arguably more iconic, but Obama came out with his top songs of 2024 on Friday. As is tradition, some people loved it and some people hated it.

Many fans couldn't help but notice one glaring omission on Obama's famed list: Taylor Swift. There was no room for the 35-year-old global pop superstar, despite her dropping "The Tortured Poets Department" this year.
Swift hasn't shown up on Obama's summer or end-of-year lists in recent editions, so it's possible Obama just isn't a big fan of pop. It's no surprise to see Kendrick Lamar featured on the list in 2024, as he was also present in 2023 and 2022. Karol G also seems to be a favorite of Obama's, as is Beyonce.
As if Tommy Richman wasn't having an incredible year to begin with, Obama made it all the better by featuring his mega hit, "Million Dollar Baby", on the list. The 24-year-old has a bright future ahead of him.
