In the days following the 2024 U.S. presidential election, a note received by a Kamala Harris supporter has gained viral attention.
In a video that has been viewed over 2 million times, Rachel (@hairbyraynhigh on TikTok) shared how she was left an unexpected message of support on her doorstep. Just hours after the election results confirmed Donald Trump's victory over Harris, Rachel, who had prominently displayed a Harris campaign sign, saw a man come to the front door and leave a sticky note.
In the video she explained: "Someone came to our front door today after the election results and left me an orange post it note. I was worried it was something negative because of our Harris sign."
But when Rachel went outside to look at the note, it revealed a heartwarming message of support, reading: "Thank you for fighting for me. I'm going to keep fighting too."
The TikToker's emotional response was clear. In the video she said: "Thank you for this, stranger. We will always fight, too." While the video's caption added: "My heart is shattered, but this helped start to piece it back together again. Thank you, whoever you are."
The election, which saw Trump return to the presidency with at least 295 Electoral College votes, has left many Harris supporters feeling disheartened.
Harris' concession speech, given to a somber crowd of supporters, acknowledged the outcome while urging Americans to "never give up" on their ideals. In the background of this concession, stories like Rachel's are emerging as symbols of resilience for people grappling with their own disappointment.
With millions of views on TikTok, the video of the kind post-it note prompted responses from people online. In the comments, people shared their reactions. User @BramFam89 said: "I'm keeping my sign up for the next 4 years here in Utah."
While viewer Sarah Phillips said: "I baked cookies all night last night as a distraction. I dropped them off at houses that had signs up today."
TikToker Liz Manspeaker said she even received a similar message from someone nearby: "I received a similar kind note today on my doorstep. It makes me realize we're fighting for the right issues and you must keep up the fight," she wrote.
Commenter Sabrina said: "This just made me cry harder, we have to keep fighting especially for those who cant."
