Olivia Rodrigo's 'superstitious' ritual that could ruin her concerts

2 months ago 12

Olivia Rodrigo's Guts World Tour has wrapped up after taking her across the globe, but as the pop star reflects on her tour, she revealed an unusual pre-show ritual that she believes keeps her performances on track.

Her superstition may sound quirky, but for Olivia, it's a critical part of her routine before hitting the stage.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Olivia opened up about the surprising pre-concert habit she can't go without. The 20-year-old singer depends on her in-ear monitor technician, Seamus, to say a specific British phrase before every show: "It's gonna be a piece of p*ss."

The British slang translates to "It's going to be easy," and for Olivia, hearing Seamus say these words is a good luck charm she refuses to ignore.

Olivia explained, "Before every show, I make sure that I say, 'Seamus, it's gonna be a piece of piss.' If he doesn't say that, I'm convinced it's going to be a bad show. I'm very superstitious."

This small but significant routine has become a non-negotiable part of her pre-show preparations. Without Seamus echoing the phrase back, Olivia believes her performance will be jinxed, which puts even more pressure on her successful world tour.

A Successful Guts Tour Wrapped with Gratitude

Despite her superstition, Olivia Rodrigo's Guts World Tour was a smashing success. The tour began in February in Palm Springs, California, and took her to major cities across the U.S., including New York, Dallas, Chicago, and more.

Her international tour stops spanned Europe and Asia, including Ireland, Germany, Thailand, and Japan.

After completing her 95th show, Olivia expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her fans with a handwritten message, reflecting on the incredible journey. "And that's a wrap on the GUTS World Tour! 95 shows, 22 countries, and a few matching tattoos!" she wrote.

"Words cannot describe how lucky I feel to have been able to travel all around the world playing these songs with the most extraordinary group of people. I'll never forget this experience and all the sweet memories we made on the road."

Though Olivia's superstition might seem like a minor detail, it's clear that it has become a key part of her concert preparation. Whether Seamus and his British slang will continue to be part of her future tours is unknown, but for now, it's working for her.
