Ahead of the full reveal later this week, OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 13 will get new hardware features, including an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
Through posts on Weibo, OnePlus indicated a few new details about the OnePlus 13. The fingerprint sensor is getting upgraded from the optical sensor in the OnePlus 12. The OnePlus 13 will carry an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that seemingly will be able to unlock the phone with a quick tap.
OnePlus notes that the ultrasonic sensor is also more secure in comparison to the previous version. It should also be able to detect and recognize wet or greasy fingers, which would improve the experience in certain situations.
OnePlus also detailed the new haptics setup. The company is describing it as “4D” haptics, indicating it’ll have a little more depth than the standard set of motors in modern phones. The motor is supposedly the “largest motor in Android” and has more than 700 steps of adjustment for fine-tuning. This feature seems to be aimed at gamers who want to feel haptic feedback for every little effect in-game.
Lastly, OnePlus has officially noted that the OnePlus 13 will carry an IP69 water and dust resistance rating. That’s higher than what we generally see in IP68 ratings across the board, though that’s already a strong resistance rating. The IP69 rating gives the OnePlus 13 a little further protection against more adverse conditions.
The OnePlus 13 is set to launch on October 31.
