Orlando Bloom is headed to court, thanks to his wife Katy Perry’s latest ongoing real estate dispute.
Perry has in the thick of a legal battle with Carl Westcott, the founder of 1-800-Flowers, over a sprawling Santa Barbara mansion Perry tried to purchase from him. Back in 2020, Westcott said he wasn’t really in the right frame to sell his house because he was on medication after surgery. Even though he tried to pull out of the deal, Perry’s team held their ground, and by November 2023, the court gave her the nod, confirming the $15 million sale. The whole ordeal had some folks calling Perry “soulless” and “heartless.”

Come February 2025, the court is set to decide if Katy can snag up to $5.5 million in damages. Her business manager argues there was a bit of neglect in maintaining the property before the sale went through. This is where Bloom comes in. The actor has been called in to testify, potentially shedding light on the damages related to property renovations, per InTouch Weekly.
This isn’t Perry’s first run-in with real estate drama, either. In 2015, she tried to buy a convent in Los Feliz — a covetable Los Angeles neighborhood — sparking a major clash with the nuns living there. Even after the archdiocese greenlit her purchase in 2016, the nuns weren’t backing down. By 2017, she found herself in another legal wrangle with Dana Hollister, who got a hefty penalty for messing with Katy’s purchase plans of the convent, leading to big attorney fees.
The situation took a tragic turn in 2018 when Sister Catherine Rose Holzman collapsed and quite literally died in court, pleading with Perry to stop the sale. In 2019, Sister Mary Callinan accused Perry of having “blood on her hands” due to the ordeal. The sale ultimately didn’t happen.
Amidst the ongoing legal drama, both Westcott and Perry are financially equipped to handle the storm. Westcott’s fortune is estimated between $13 million and $34 million, while Perry and Bloom boast a combined net worth exceeding $540 million, with $500 million coming from Perry.

In the end, it’s a dispute among the wealthy over high-end properties, and no matter who claims the Santa Barbara mansion, it seems like everyone involved will have a roof over the head, one way or another. Still, the whole ordeal has left something of a bad taste in the public’s mouth.
