Pat McAfee found himself juggling his duties as a devoted husband and dedicated Colts fan on Sunday night as he attended Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis with his wife and her friends. Coincidentally, the concert overlapped with the Indianapolis Colts' game against the Minnesota Vikings, which led McAfee, a former Colts punter, to keep tabs on the game and even live-tweet updates while Swift performed.
Swift's fans, however, weren't too pleased, playfully blaming McAfee's divided attention for the Colts' loss, suggesting he'd fallen under the "Tayvoodoo" curse-a lighthearted term used by fans for those who might not give Swift their full focus.
McAfee's reaction
Addressing the comments on The Pat McAfee Show the following day, McAfee assured fans he was fully immersed in the concert experience, despite occasionally checking his phone for game updates.
He emphasized that he enjoyed every moment of Swift's performance and that his brief glances at the Colts game didn't detract from the show.
With a wink, McAfee acknowledged the "Tayvoodoo" theory with humor, sharing his amusement over the fan reaction and his memorable night managing both his Colts loyalty and Swift concert experience.
"I did not know that you could have an audience that engaged for three and a half hours," he noted.
"Taylor Swift is a monster... It was an experience.
"I kept up with the Colts game on my phone. It was hard to keep up legitimately because you get captivated with everything that's going on in the show. It was the coolest and most electric environment I have ever been in in my entire [life].
"I was told by the Swifties, though, that because I was keeping up with the football game, I got hit with some Tayvoodoo and the Colts lost because I wasn't all in. I was all in. I didn't know all the words like anybody else. Tayvoodoo..."
