Ariana's physical comedy during "Popular" was simply amazing.
It's full steam ahead on Wicked. The film arrived in theaters nationwide on November 22, and it's taken the internet by storm ever since.
Praise is being bestowed on cast members like Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, and Jonathan Bailey, who plays Fiyero. Perhaps, though, the film's biggest breakout star is one of the biggest pop stars in the world.
That would be Ariana Grande, of course. She plays Glinda in the film, and she's specifically being praised online for her comedic chops in the movie.

Whether it's the wry depth she adds to the musical's opening number "No One Mourns The Wicked" or the full physical comedy she displays in "Popular," it's agreed upon that Ariana is a full-blown comedic actor.

But the truth is, many of us already knew that. After all, she got her start on Broadway and cut her teeth in not one but two Nickelodeon sitcoms: Victorious and Sam & Cat.

She also popped up in Jim Carrey's 2020 showtime series Kidding and got a few good jokes in as part of the cast of Adam McKay's 2021 film Don't Look Up.

All this to say, Ariana has been funny for a long time. So here are 12 tweets that show just how much acclaim she's receiving for bringing the comedy to Wicked:

Ariana was completely unashamed to be silly in Wicked in a way that we've needed back on screen for a while.

Ariana gave one of the funniest performances I have seen in a movie, ever. The entire theatre broke out into laughter countless times. She received a round of applause after almost every scene. The Oscar is hers.

It's gonna be really really really difficult for other movies to beat WICKED at the Oscars.
It's not even a two-horse race with anything else
It's just #Wicked #WickedMovie running 100 mph ahead.
Ariana Grande was so gutbustingly funny and Cynthia Erivo was incredibly POWERFUL. pic.twitter.com/XgF02NwzAo

I’m on the “Ariana Grande for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar” train. She is delightful in Wicked, with razor-sharp timing and presence that adds depth to the mean girl archetype. It’s one of the best comedic musical performances in years (maybe since Catherine Zeta-Jones). pic.twitter.com/VRKzuoaJIS

I got to go to the European WICKED premiere last night and let me tell you something, Cynthia Erivo can do whatever tf she wants. WHEW. She is unreal. Otherworldly. A force. I got goosebumps. And Ariana was simply born to be Glinda and is a comedic STAR.

All I can say is WOW. Truly a #Wicked for our time. Ariana reinvents a beloved role with immediately iconic comedic sensibility. Cynthia’s vocals will astound you. As a longtime fan, I am so moved by the way they honored the material. Congratulations to Jon Chu and all. pic.twitter.com/SuEN8QgM6r

#Wicked rocks, kids. Galinda is the role Ariana Grande was born to play. Perfectly suited and genuinely a hilarious, scene-stealing performance. Cynthia Erivo's heavenly vocals allow her to make Elphaba her own. The team of artisans assembled by Jon M. Chu all put their signature… pic.twitter.com/OIXi9bnFZz

#Wicked is wicked awesome! (sorry, couldn’t help it) Full disclosure - I’ve never seen the Broadway show, but the movie is utterly charming. Ariana Grande is hilarious and the music is incredible. Wicked is the kind of movie that makes someone fall in love with movies. pic.twitter.com/nBtwHJqynW
