People Are Outraged Over This "Wicked" Social Media Trend

I had multiple flashes go off in my screening, and let me tell you, I was not happy about it.

We've got some Wicked discourse to discuss!

So, people are taking pictures of the screen during their screenings of Wicked.

Part One" featuring scenes with Glinda in a gown and Elphaba as a witch

It's becoming somewhat of a social media trend.

Tweet displaying blurry movie scenes featuring actors in courtroom and fashion scenes, captioned about 3D effects causing blur

One particular thread blew up on X, asking people to share their photos from their screening.

"If you can’t stay off your phone for a few hours to watch a movie then stay home," this person said.

"Put your damn phone away, watch the damn movie & show some damn respect," another person said.

This person called it a "simple matter of respect."

PLEASE TURN YOUR PHONE OFF. It’s a simple matter of respect. Respect for your fellow moviegoers. Respect for the hundreds of people who poured themselves into making the film. https://t.co/iDSLYCxPWx

And this person said what I say every time I go to a movie: "Theater etiquette is dead."

Other people aren't so mad about it!

"I’m humbly accepting defeat on the phones out at the movies thing. We fought hard but it looks like we lost this one folks," one person said.

"Y’all being so up in arms over someone getting their phone out for one (1) second during a movie to take a picture of the title card is more annoying than the action itself," another person chimed in.

And this person pointed out that they literally ask you to scan a QR code before the show...

Now seated for round 2 of #Wicked before any of yall start about taking pictures. This is prior to the movie and literally has a QR code encouraging use of said device. pic.twitter.com/VbSDdJmAq0
