If you're skin is feeling the effects of the cold weather this winter, and feeling especially dry, tight or itchy, you're not alone – research from CeraVe has seen Google searches for “dry skin in winter” has risen by 450% over the last few months, while several members of The Mirror's beauty team have been complaining how their skin has been playing up recently. Luckily, we've found a solution – and it's suitable for the whole family.
Although not a new product, we've recently rediscovered Bioderma's Atoderm Ultra-Soothing Balm, and it's giving instant relief to uncomfortable skin. Fragrance-free and suitable even for babies, this rich face and body balm doesn't just hydrate dry skin but also helps to strengthen the skin barrier – and thereby stop moisture escaping – thanks to a combination of lipids, glycerin and ceramides.
Although usually retailing for £15.50 for a 200ml tube, shoppers can currently save 20% on Lookfantastic with the code FLASH, bringing it down to £12.40. It's also reduced down to £12.47 on Amazon, and the larger bottle works out at even better value, now £18 for 500ml.

Lookfantastic)Shoppers has been praising its effects on problem skin, and how the whole family can use it. "I have very reactive skin, and have found this moisturiser to be perfect for keeping my skin moisturised and hydrated while allowing my skin barrier to repair," one person wrote on the Lookfantastic website. "Also been using it for my son's severe eczema as the emollients prescribed are very greasy and off-putting. Using this twice every day has done wonders for him."
"Thanks to this balm my skin is not dry anymore, just perfect for winter," another agreed.
Even our beauty and wellness editor Laura Mulley is a fan. "I don't normally struggle with dry skin but recently my forearms in particular have become really itchy and scaly, no doubt due to a combination of the cold weather, drying central heating and wearing synthetic knitwear," she says. "This Bioderma balm provides instant relief, and even one use keeps my skin feeling comfortable for days."

"Great for dry irritated skin, it seems to coat the skin for a while which takes a bit of getting used to but having said that, it’s a very effective product for eczema and psoriasis," one comment reads.
If you prefer something with a lighter texture that sinks in quicker, Laura also love the Bioderma Atoderm 2-in-1 Dry Body Oil, £24, from the same range, which isn't greasy in the slightest.
Another popular option for dry-to-very-dry skin is CeraVe Moisturising Cream, currently reduced from £16 to £13.60 at Sephora, while La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+, £11, comes highly recommended by dermatologists and other skincare experts.
