TV personality and animal welfare advocate Pete Wicks is set to star in a new docu-series, For Dogs' Sake, in partnership with Dogs Trust.
The Strictly star who serves as an ambassador to the charity hosted a special screening today at the Dogs Trust centre in Basildon.
During the visit, staff were treated to a tour down the 'red paw-pet' and Wicks spent time with puppies Nigel, Pepper and Dory.
He was also joined by his former Strictly partner Jowita Pryzstal who came to show her support.
Speaking about the project, Wicks said: "Anyone who knows me knows that I prefer animals to people, so this show is a real passion project for me. "
"With two rescue dogs of my own, animal welfare is close to my heart, and I am super excited to be teaming up with U&W for this amazing opportunity," he added.
The series will follow Wicks as he works with Dogs Trust to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome vulnerable dogs. It will air on U&W and U, providing viewers with behind-the-scenes access to Dogs Trust and delving into the individual stories of the rescued dogs.
From the moment the dogs are rescued, Wicks will play a key role in their rehabilitation process, right up until they are safely rehomed.
Helen Nightingale, head of factual and factual entertainment at UKTV, commented: "We'd be barking mad to turn down the opportunity to work with Pete Wicks and witness first hand his passion for dogs and their welfare."
"It's a huge privilege being granted such unique access to Dogs Trust to see how the charity operates."
