Peter Kiefer has joined The Hollywood Reporter as writer-at-large.
In his new role, which is effective immediately, Kiefer will cover Hollywood’s agencies and studios while also writing broader insider profiles and investigative pieces on industry personalities and institutions. He will also write deep-dive features on politics, real estate, tech and other topics.
Kiefer, who is based in Los Angeles, will report to THR co-editor-in-chief Maer Roshan.
“We’re thrilled to bring Peter onto our team during this time of unprecedented editorial growth for us,” Roshan said. “Peter’s extraordinary work, breadth of coverage and proven track record breaking news truly sets him apart. Peter’s experience and ability will further cement THR’s editorial leadership.”
Said Kiefer: “I’m thrilled to be back at THR and joining the crack team of writers and editors that co-editors-in-chief Maer Roshan and Shirley Halperin have assembled at this exciting moment in the publication’s history. I’m excited to contribute to a publication that’s already generating incredible journalism every single day.”
Since 2022, Kiefer served as a staff writer at The Ankler. While there, he authored several notable feature stories, including breaking the news that former Grey’s Anatomy writer and producer Elisabeth Finch had been placed on administrative leave after it was revealed that she had fabricated large portions of her life story, including that she had suffered from cancer. Kiefer later landed the first and only interview with Finch after she was fired from the show and banished from the industry.
Before joining The Ankler, he was a contributing editor at Los Angeles Magazine and worked alongside Roshan, writing several of the biggest stories in the magazine’s history, including a profile of internet personality Yashar Ali. He returns to THR, where he previously held the role of real estate and city editor for four years.
Kiefer joins a world-class editorial team at THR, a flagship entertainment media brand offering in-depth reporting, analysis and thought-provoking reviews; unparalleled access, world-class photography and video; and feature exclusives in its award-winning weekly magazine and dynamic website.
The Hollywood Reporter also boasts prestigious live events, industry-leading philanthropic, empowerment and diversity initiatives and hugely successful video series including the Emmy-nominated Close Up With The Hollywood Reporter.
In 2024, THR received 40 awards for excellence at the National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards.
