Erin Plummer's teenage daughter was told her father Alan Plummer had gone missing only moments before he was found dead at the base of a cliff.
Alan, 49, had planned to spend Sunday morning (November 10) swimming with a friend but was discovered by police after a welfare check led officers to the bottom of a cliff at Freshwater Beach in Sydney.
The father of three, had reportedly struggled to cope with the loss of his wife Erin, an Australian TV star who took her own life in 2022.
Erin’s death at age 42 shocked the nation, as she was a familiar face on popular shows like Today Extra and Studio 10. She was also a former synchronised swimmer who represented Australia at three world championships, winning 11 national titles. Alan’s death follows a difficult two years for the family after Erin’s passing.
Alan was reported missing around 6:30 am on Sunday after failing to meet his friend as planned. Concerned, the pal contacted the police, who promptly visited Alan’s home and spoke with his eldest daughter, 18.

The teenager had returned home only hours before, after celebrating a friend’s birthday following her Higher School Certificate exams, just narrowly missing her father’s departure that morning.
The officers informed her that Alan had not been seen for some time before heading out to continue their search. Roughly an hour later, his body was discovered at Freshwater Beach by a lifeguard, and it’s feared that Alan took his own life in a suspected suicide.
An NSW police spokesperson confirmed to the media, "Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner regarding the death of a 49-year-old man at Freshwater on Sunday."
Along with their 18-year-old, Erin and Alan also leave behind two daughters 15 and 11. According to a family source, Alan had recently planned to relocate to Queensland with his youngest daughter and had just sold the family home, which the couple purchased in 2002. The property was listed for sale in March of this year.
The loss has devastated the Freshwater community, which locals say will "come together" to support the three young girls left behind. Erin’s passing two years ago deeply affected her family, friends, and fans.

A close friend of hers, Danielle Lamour, had shared an emotional tribute on Facebook, expressing regret over missing Erin’s last call before her death. “Will always regret not trying harder to return your call last week, should have tried a 2nd, 3rd, 4th time,” she wrote, remembering her friend fondly.
Erin's tragic death came after battling mental health difficulties. The Studio 10 star, who also presented an aerobics TV show for six years, also represented her country in synchronised swimming – winning 11 national titles.
The family launched a GoFundMe campaign shortly after her passing to hire a gardener and housekeeper to help “keep the household running”, and raised nearly $28,000 at the time.
Her Studio 10 co-stars Sarah Harris and Angela Bishop were tasked with announcing the sad news of Erin’s death, telling viewers: “Over the weekend, Studio 10 lost a little bit of sparkle with our friend and advertorial host Erin Jayne passing away suddenly.
