It’s going to be an exciting season and friends and alliances are going to be so important. And Porsha Williams knows that. She teased the upcoming season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta and shared that the best friend this time around was Cynthia Bailey.
The reality star talked to PEOPLE about her return to RHOA after a couple of seasons off. And amid crazy drama and lots of piping hot tea, she revealed how Cynthia’s friendship has been particularly special this new season.

Photo Credit: Charles Sykes/Getty Images for Bravo“I can not say enough about Cynthia Bailey,” Porsha shared enthusiastically. “She came back as a friend this season and she is literally the best friend of the show. We’ve had other people, but I feel like when she came back in, she genuinely was interested in what we had going on.”
And they certainly had a lot going on. The recent RHOA Season 16 trailer revealed a packed and exciting season of fun, fighting, and more. Porsha previously said she was going to be transparent during Season 16 and based on the trailer, we can see she’s doing just that and transparently showing her displeasure about her ex, Dennis McKinley, working with Drew Sidora.
So it’s good she has her BFF Cynthia with her! “She’s that big sis,” Porsha explained. “She wants to fix everything. She’s a confidant. I just love her.”
Drama wasn’t the only thing Cynthia helped Porsha deal with, and Porsha also revealed that she struggled a bit filming the new season after her hiatus and it felt a bit weird to be back.
“The first day of filming, I kid you not, I felt like a rookie,” Porsha said. “I promise you, I stopped midway and I was like, ‘Am I supported to be looking this way?’”
She confessed that she had to “stop looking at the camera” and “recalibrate” to make the cameras invisible again. She also shared that she had spent some time in therapy to help her set healthy boundaries in her divorce while filming.
Cynthia also talked about her return to the show saying it felt “amazing” to be back on the Bravo show. “It was fun to get back with the girls. There’s something to be said about bringing in some fresh blood and some of the old girls as well.”
The Real Housewives of Atlanta returns Sunday, March 9 on Bravo.
