Actor Danny Dyer has announced plans to undergo surgery to address a hydrocele, a condition characterised by fluid accumulation leading to swelling in the scrotum.
The 47-year-old EastEnders star revealed that his father noticed the enlargement and advised him to seek medical attention. Discussing the matter with his daughter, Dani, on their Live And Let Dyers podcast, Danny humorously remarked: "I need to get it done... have a reduction on my winkle."
He added, "Well, it's just too big. My big nut, yeah. I do need to get that sorted." A hydrocele is usually harmless and happens when too much fluid builds up or doesn’t drain properly around the testicle.
During the podcast, Danny also recounted the times his dad urged him to get it checked. About his father, Danny said: "He's always been on my case, my dad. Like, 'Listen, you've got to get that b****** done, it ain't right'. You know... ‘God didn't make you that way'."

Although his father encouraged him to get it checked, he had earlier cautioned Danny about the procedure. Danny said: "He had the operation and then he went to me, ‘Don't get it done, don't get it done! I can't sit down!', so, it was a conflicting message.”
Danny confirmed that he plans to have the surgery, saying: "[It’s] something that I will get done eventually.” This comes after Danny revealed that he had landed a huge new film role, and he's not only the leading male, but he's the only actor in the whole production.
The film star, who is currently starring in Disney+ drama Rivals, has shared that he's set to fly to Dublin later this month to begin filming a new one-man-movie called Three Quick Breaths. The former EastEnders actor admits that while he can't talk about his upcoming movie, he explained it's a "really mad concept".
However, the process suffered a hiccup as Danny admitted that he had a health scare but he was later given the all clear. However, he is planning to change his life this year and admits that he's going to attempt to quit smoking in order to maintain a full bill of health.
“I can’t talk too much about it. It’s a really mad concept. I’m trying to push myself now that I’m known as sort of Marlon Brando in the acting world because of Rivals, you know," Danny told The Sun.
He continued: "Even though I’ve been acting for so long anyway, this is something that is going to be a real test for me. But I had to have a very, very in-depth medical [check] for insurance reasons.
“I’m the only one in this film. Its only one character. Just me. I won’t go too into it but it’s a bit like Phone Booth with Colin Farrell. It’s quite a clever idea. Because I’m the only actor, I had two doctors waiting at my door.” Aside from his new role, Danny, famed for his role as Mick Carter in EastEnders, is currently portraying businessman Freddie Jones in the show, which also stars Alex Hassell and Emily Atack.
