Now, in an interview with PEOPLE, Skai opened up about feeling “thrilled” for this next chapter, from motherhood to “new acting projects.” Her next feature film, ‘The Man in the White Van,’ will arrive in December.

Jackson previously credited her mother, who raised her alone, for teaching her how to advocate for herself. Skai told PEOPLE in Feb. 2023 that her mom taught her how to fight for her belief and “what is right.”

“I thank her for that because without her, I probably wouldn’t have a lot of the confidence that I do now,” Skai Jackson said at the time.
