PrettyLittleThing to cut jobs

The job cuts are believed to involve more than 50 staff members, who were informed in a video call last week.

The latest redundancies come after Boohoo Group proposed job cuts impacting around 200 staff across brands such as Boohoo and PrettyLittleThing (PLT) in December.

A spokesperson for Boohoo Group said: "As a business, Boohoo Group remains focused on ensuring that it is well-placed to potentialise the significant opportunities ahead, while maintaining a control on costs.

"Following a review of business operations, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to propose some changes to the structure of some of our teams, which affects some roles. Affected colleagues are being informed and we are supporting them at this time."

Earlier this week, Frasers Group penned an open letter to Boohoo shareholders questioning PLT founder Umar Kamani's alleged £2m annual consultancy fee.

Umar Kamani is the son of Boohoo Group co-founder Mahmud Kamani and the founder of womenswear brand PrettyLittleThing. Boohoo Group acquired 66% of PLT in 2017 for £3.3m, and the remaining 34% in 2020 for £269.8m.

Umar Kamani stepped down from his role as CEO of PLT in March 2023, but returned 18 months later to "reconnect with customers and make meaningful improvements". He is based in Dubai, where he established a talent and partnerships agency with model Naomi Campbell.

Meanwhile, PLT chief marketing officer Nicki Capstick exited the business in December after 10 years.
