Prunella Scales shared a heartbreaking tribute to her husband Timothy West before his death.
The 92-year-old Fawlty Towers icon was married to EastEnders star Timothy for 63 years until his death at the age of 90 earlier this week. The couple married in 1963 and welcomed two sons together - while Prunella is step-mother to a daughter from her husband's first marriage.
Since 2013, Prunella has been living with the neurological condition dementia and they appeared on BBC Breakfast in November last year where they discussed how the condition had impacted their lives. But viewers were moved to tears when Prunella thanked her husband for "sticking with" her amid her health battle.
The couple sat down with Colin Paterson for a heartwarming discussion about their lives together. During the course of the chat, Timothy recalled the moment he first realised his wife was not in good health. He said: "I came to see a play that Pru was doing in Greenwich.

BBC)"I went to see the first night and it was good, much enjoyed by the audience and then I went to see it again and I thought 'She's not totally with it' We went to see a specialist and he said I am sorry this is just something that happens to you when you get older. It is not going to get any easier but we cope with it and we manage."
Turning to his wife, Timothy then said: "Well, we've done all right. It hasn't really been hard work, has it?" And Prunella replied enthusiastically: "No! He's a person I like, I love, I enjoy being with. I have been asked to live the rest of my life with somebody I respect very much and agree with a lot of things and argue with about a lot of things quite happily."
Timothy agreed, saying: "I know that things are going to change a little bit, but it has been a long time and we have managed pretty well really. I don't think we ever think 'Oh no'." And then Prunella leaned in to kiss him and said: "Thanks for sticking with me for so long." The exchange left viewers in tears.
On Tuesday, it was announced that Timothy had passed away at the age of 90. A statement was released by the late actor's agent and his children Juliet, Samuel and Joseph West, which stated: "After a long and extraordinary life on and off the stage, our darling father Timothy West died peacefully in his sleep yesterday evening. He was 90 years old.
“Tim was with friends and family at the end. He leaves his wife Prunella Scales, to whom he was married for 61 years, a sister, a daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. All of us will miss him terribly. We would like to thank the incredible NHS staff at St George's Hospital, Tooting and at Avery Wandsworth for their loving care during his last days.”
