Quincy Jones passed away surrounded by family at his LA home earlier this month at the age of 91 - and now the cause of death of the star has been uncovered in a certificate

The cause of death of late music icon Quincy Jones has been revealed days after his passing was announced.

Quincy - who was one of the most prominent producers in music history and worked with stars including Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson and Ray Charles - died on 3 November at the age of 91. It was revealed the following day that he had passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Los Angeles, California.

Now a report has uncovered the cause of death of the star less than two weeks after his passing was made public. During his lifetime, Quincy had battled serious health issues - developed a life-threatening brain aneurysm in the 1970s that required surgery.

Now it has been revealed that the star had been battling a form of cancer that was ruled to have been the cause of his death. The star has already been laid to rest at a ceremony attended by his family.

TMZ reported on Wednesday: "According to the death certificate released by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health... the official cause of death is pancreatic cancer - which happens to be the 4th leading cause of cancer deaths in the country." The report added that no other cause of death was listed.

Quincy's death was originally announced on Monday 4 November by his publicist, Arnold Robinson, who said in a statement that the musician had died at his home in Bel Air. The statement revealed: "Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones' passing. And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.” Actress Rashida Jones, fashion model Kenya Jones, and music and film producer Quincy Jones III are three of the seven children that the music icon fathered during his lifetime.

Following news of Quincy's death, past interviews involving the star went viral - with many praising his no nonsense approach to speaking his truth. Past comments about working with Michael Jackson in particular drew attention as Quincy had slammed the late Bad singer as a musical theif.

He told Vulture in 2018: “I hate to get into this publicly, but Michael stole a lot of stuff. He stole a lot of songs. [Donna Summer’s] State of Independence and Billie Jean... The notes don’t lie, man. He was as Machiavellian as they come.” He went on to alleged that Jackson was “greedy,” citing the hit song Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough to claim that Michael should have given Greg Phillinganes, who wrote the C section of the track, “10 percent of the song,” but he “wouldn’t do it.”
