Following Quincy Jones's death at the age of 91 on Sunday night, many are wondering if he had any connections with Sean 'Diddy' Combs, who is awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
Most people connected to 'Diddy' have either not spoken up or have refused to acknowledge their relationship with him. Cases involving figures like Justin Bieber, Beyonc?, Jay-Z, or Jennifer Lopez concern multiple fans in the U.S. music industry.
Other examples, like 50 Cent or even Michael Jackson, who were highly critical of Combs in the past and spoke negatively about him, now carry more weight as new evidence and statements come to light.
He knew the truth
Quincy Jones belongs to that group, those who saw through him. At a Spotify launch event in June 2012, Jones had a conversation with singer Bruno Mars about Diddy, and he didn't hold back: "He [Sean Combs] wouldn't know a B-flat if it hit him."
He also acknowledged Diddy's talent for impressing people, which was key on his persuasive tactics, though he himself was not swayed: "P. Diddy has a doctorate in marketing.... He's got clothing companies and Ciroc vodka," Jones said, while adding that artists should "learn your craft."
It's true that there are photos of them together from as far back as 2005, but everyone knows how hard it is to truly know someone. Who would have thought back then that he would become who he is today?
One has now passed away at the age of 91, while the other may be spending his 55th birthday behind bars at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center.
