Trigger Warning: This article contains discussions of domestic violence.

Vanderpump Rules alum James Kennedy is back in the news, but not for a positive reason. The DJ was infamous for his hot temper, and he was recently arrested for alleged domestic violence. Now, his former fiancée, Rachel Leviss, is weighing in on the situation.

Why was Vanderpump Rules alum James Kennedy arrested?

On December 10, James and his girlfriend Ally Lewber attended Kathy Hilton’s Christmas soiree. Afterward, the couple headed back to their home. Later, the Burbank area police arrived because James was reportedly involved in an altercation with an unidentified woman. According to a witness, James and the woman were arguing, and James allegedly grabbed her. There were no visible injuries on the female, and it is unclear if the unidentified woman was Ally.

Then, James was arrested and is facing misdemeanor domestic violence charges. He posted $20,000 bail and was released. However, further charges could be filed. This is the polar opposite of Ally’s recent remarks about how happy the couple was in light of the Pump Rules reboot.

Rachel’s attorneys, Bryan Freedman and Mark Geragos, issued a statement to Daily Mail. “We are aware of James Kennedy’s recent arrest for domestic violence. This news is, unfortunately, not surprising.” The statement continued, “Rachel’s lawsuit describes, in significant detail, Mr. Kennedy’s long history of erratic, violent behavior and substance abuse.”

In the lawsuit that Rachel filed against ex-lover Tom Sandoval and his former girlfriend, Ariana Madix, she accused James of alleged violent behavior. Rachel claimed that James was “prone to violent outbursts” and he “[grappled] with long-standing substance abuse issues and emotional dysregulation.”

According to Rachel, James would allegedly “regularly berate” her, and “falsely accuse her of cheating.” He reportedly also would “act in a generally unhinged manner.” The lawsuit read, “Some of this was captured on camera; some was not. Leviss eventually warned Kennedy that she would leave him if he did not stop drinking.” The court documents continued, “However, she soon learned that his despicable behavior was not solely a function of alcohol abuse.”

Rachel also alleged that at a Thanksgiving visit to Arizona to see her family, James argued with her parents and allegedly kicked her dog four times. The lawsuit read, “In 2021, Leviss ended their relationship and broke off their engagement. Kennedy’s history of violent and dangerous behavior was well-known by Bravo, Evolution, and the cast.”

The lawsuit continued, “Kennedy once physically assaulted then-cast member Kristen [sic] Doute on camera; the footage, however, never aired. Nor has Kennedy faced any repercussions for his actions – which would otherwise be fireable, at a minimum – due in part to the intervention of his powerful ally, Lisa Vanderpump, who served as his protector.” WOW.

Daily Mail reached out to Bravo for comment.

As you may recall, Kristen had previously claimed that James was abusive to her. In her Instagram Stories, she posted an article about James’ arrest, and overlayed the word “FINALLY.”

In the past, Ally denied accusations that James was abusive. “That’s crazy to me that that’s the most asked question [for me]. That makes me really sad, because no, I’m good,” she previously stated.

Vanderpump Rules is streaming on Peacock.
