Season 15 of Real Housewives of New York is shaping up to be a snooze fest. I want to like it but every episode feels like a whole lot of filler and not a whole lot of action. There are countless episodes of Real Housewives of New York that I would describe as “must-watch TV,” but I can’t think of a single episode from Season 15 that I would put in that category.
Episode 10, titled, “A Strictly Ballroom Affair” had some great moments but overall, it was sort of forgettable. I hate to report that the season hasn’t won me over yet. Although, I have to give props to Erin and Brynn for showing up and doing the work.
If you missed last night’s episode, don’t worry, I’ll bring you up to speed.
What happened on Season 15, Episode 10 of Real Housewives of New York?
Last night’s episode featured Raquel and Mel’s highly anticipated engagement party. The women showed up in over-the-top outfits to celebrate the couple’s upcoming nuptials. Some other stuff happened too. Racquel and Erin cleared the air, Jenna cleared out her closet, and Brynn opened up about a previous sexual assault experience.
Jenna throws a huge closet sale on Real Housewives of New York
The women said “Out with the old and in with the new” in Episode 10 of RHONY. Tonight’s episode began with Sai recovering from a foot injury that happened while she was cleaning out her closet. She was loading some unwanted items into the elevator when one of the garbage bags began to slip out, so she tried to kick it back into the elevator. She hit one of the glass beauty products with her foot and it shattered. Yikes. She had to take a trip to the hospital to get an X-ray and left with crutches. Okay, note to self, don’t kick garbage bags full of glass.
Jenna also cleaned out her closet but in a much larger sense. The Fashion Maven hosted a clothing sale, selling some of her most glamorous items. New York fashion lovers flooded the place with dreams of obtaining one of Jenna’s fashionable pieces. Even Sunny Hostin from The View made an appearance! I fear that is the closest we’ll get to seeing her on RHONY (I still think she would be a great addition). In a confessional, Jenna explained the reason for the sale, telling viewers she wants to make room for her partner Cass.
“Having Cass move in has been one of the best things to happen. I want to be with her every second of every day,” she said. “I want to move my shoes, I want to move my clothes, I want to make room because I really love having a partner.”
Aw! How cute!
Erin and Racquel clear the air on Real Housewives of New York
Last week, Erin and Racquel hit a rough patch in their friendship. Racquel was upset that Erin (allegedly) didn’t tell the girls Brynn was in on the prank, whereas Erin was hurt by Racquel’s behavior towards her at the picnic party. The women cleared the air over lunch in last night’s episode. Erin said she didn’t think much of her conversation with Brynn about the prank. She said she was dismissive when Brynn asked if Rebecca was sleeping with other men because she didn’t want to double down on the “insane” rumor, but she never explicitly told her it wasn’t true.
Erin may have resolved her issue with Racquel, but she still has beef with some of her other RHONY castmates. During lunch, Erin told Racquel she was upset with Ubah because of the gaslighting remark she made at the picnic party. She did not appreciate Ubah accusing her of being a gaslighter and plans to confront her about the comment.
Once the gossip talk ends, the women discuss Racquel’s upcoming engagement party. Racquel tells Erin she is planning to channel singer Grace Jones for the event and Erin doesn’t know who that is. She has to Google it. Lol. Come on, Erin!
The ladies attend Racquel and Mel’s engagement party
It’s time for Racquel and Mel’s Ballroom-themed engagement party. The women come dressed to impress. Jenna channels her inner femme, Jessel references Madonna, and Erin and Abe switch genders. The party is a lot of fun and the women are stunned by Erin and Abe’s interpretations of each other. It is pretty comical. Of course, there is some drama as well. Jenna tells Erin that she spoke to Ubah on the phone after the picnic party and she had some harsh words to say about her.
Erin is convinced Ubah is after her and wants to confront her.
Mel closes out the engagement party with a beautiful speech about their chosen family and how she loves Racquel’s children unconditionally. It’s a really nice moment. I love Mel!
Brynn opens up about a past traumatic experience
Brynn meets with a writer from Glamour magazine to talk about her upcoming book. She will be working alongside Hanna as they write and develop the book together. Okay, we love a RHONY woman who is open about having a Ghostwriter (haha). Brynn opens up in this scene about difficult experiences she plans to share in the book, most notably her breakup with Gideon and a past sexual assault. Brynn explains that the assault caused her to isolate from her Grandma in the year before her death. She also shared that the experience made her hesitant to enter a new relationship. It’s a truly emotional scene and I respect Brynn so much for opening up about such a difficult subject on camera. The RHONY reboot has its issues, but I give these women so much credit for opening up about sensitive topics on this show. There is no doubt it is helping viewers who have been through similar experiences.
The ladies discuss Erin and Ubah’s lingering beef on Real Housewives of New York
Episode 10 of RHONY concluded with the women discussing the Erin/Ubah beef. Ubah, Racquel, and Sai gathered at Sai’s house, while Erin and Brynn met in Manhattan to help pack lunches for City Meals. Ubah doesn’t think it’s worth it to hash it out with Erin, but we all know that is not Erin’s style. I’m sure we will see a confrontation between these two ladies next episode.
Real Housewives of New York airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
