Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9, Episode 12 Recap: Shake the Devil Off

Welcome to the Real Housewives of Potomac recap for Season 9, Episode 12. Last week, Wendy surprised the group with a trip to Panama. And no, it was not Panama City, Florida. But before everyone headed south, Karen threw one of her infamous “Love Lagoon” parties. Ray and Karen were the hits of the party when Ray dished on Karen’s past with him. However, Mia being Mia, took it too far when she told the group TMI about her and Inc. Then, surprise! Jacqueline crashed the party. Would The Grande Dame let her stay? Here’s exactly what went down in RHOP Season 9, Episode 12: “Shake the Devil Off.”

What happened in Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9, Episode 12?

Karen’s Love Lagoon party wrapped up with her sending Jacqueline and her balloons home. The group then flew off to Panama, with Wendy assigning the ladies to villas based on what would be the most chaotic outcome. A pro Real Housewives move for sure. And speaking of pros, Karen and Gizelle decided it was time to take Jacqueline and Mia to school. The tension eased up by the end of the episode, except for Mia, who had more family drama with Gordon to attend to.

Jacqueline’s eight balloons for eight citations didn’t win Karen over

We left off with Jacqueline crashing Karen’s party. And she almost won Karen over with her speech about bringing “love and light.” That was until she mentioned she had eight balloons that represented Karen’s eight citations. The shade was real. Everyone’s jaws dropped except for Mia’s, who was loving it. In her confessional, Ashley said, “You can’t tell Karen you’re gonna come here in peace and give her a compliment, and at the same time talk about the woman’s citations. All eight of them. I mean, I loved it, but still, you can’t do that.”

Karen immediately had Ray escort Jacqueline off the property. Karen said, “You were so desperate to come to my party, you reduced yourself to walk in through the back. You look stupid.” However, Mia couldn’t understand what Karen’s issue was. She said, “I think that Karen lives in delusional Karen world. Just say, ‘Hey, yes, I’m being charged with … but this is not the story … or it didn’t go down like that.’ Just own it.” Mia and Karen would have to agree to disagree. The lunch ended with Mia jumping in the pool and Ray flirting with the mermaids. Overall, it was another successful Love Lagoon party for The Grand Dame.

Stacey defended her man, TJ, to the group … again

It was time to head off to Panama! Wendy had “zero expectations” that Gizelle and Mia, and Karen and Jacqueline, would get along. And she was right. Karen and Gizelle had a plan in place to put them in check. Karen said, “You don’t force your friendship on me. I don’t want you. It’s gone too far. They need an OG check. Let’s take them to school.” Does anyone have any popcorn?

The ladies arrived in Panama City, and it was stunning. Wendy gave everyone the good news: there were three villas, so they would each get their own room. But who would be assigned to each villa? Then she shared the bad news. It was two hours to the resort. Womp, womp. To pass the time, Stacey confronted Ashley about her “spidey senses” regarding TJ. Ashley shared she didn’t feel they had any chemistry. Keiarna agreed and said they had a “Christian kiss.”

In her confessional, Stacey said, “I honestly feel like we’re moving from concern to ridicule. Like, what is this? They need to worry about their men or lack thereof.” But until they saw a real interest from TJ, the heat would be on. Ashley then told the group she was smitten with Josh and that he had spent the night. Everyone was shocked, but Ashley was on cloud nine. Finally, the group arrived at the resort. Let the festivities and drama begin!

Wendy stirred the pot with the villa assignments

The good mood dampened once Wendy assigned out the villas. And her strategy was “chaos.” Wendy let Keiarna and Mia stay with her, then put Karen, Jacqueline, and Ashley together, and finally, Gizelle with Stacey. Wendy said, “I feel like Stacey will really get on Gizelle’s nerves. And that’s exactly what I want.” And it worked. Gizelle said, “Why me and Stacey? Nobody wants to live with Stacey. Not even TJ.” The uphill battle for Stacey to win over Gizelle as a bestie continued.

The group was greeted at their table by conga dancers in various costumes. Gizelle noted one was wearing a construction hat. Karen said, “He’s channeling the village people, Gizelle.” But another dancer wore a devil costume, which spooked the group. Stacey said, “I’m not dancing with the devil. I don’t play those games.” While Keiarna thought it was appropriate as several devils were in their midst. Gizelle joked the devil had gravitated towards Karen. Karen replied, “Yes, he did. He knew darkness was upon me.” And by that she meant Jacqueline.

School was in session on Real Housewives of Potomac

Now was the time for that OG check. Gizelle confronted Jacqueline about bringing the balloons to Karen’s house. Jacqueline explained they were meant to be released so the citations were “not so heavy on her heart or her spirit.” Sure, Jan. Karen then jumped in and said she was going to press trespassing charges. She added, “And secondly, releasing balloons into the atmosphere is illegal.” Everyone lost it. Stacey chimed in, “They also hurt animals and birds.” The more you know.

Gizelle then turned her attention to Mia. She was mad Mia called out her daughters for sneaking in boys. Kids were off-limits. Ashley explained when Mia had gotten emotional at the GnA event and then posted Happy Father’s Day to Inc, and it made them feel some kind of way. Mia teared up and said she was going through it with Gordon and was doing the best she could.

The next morning, everyone was in a better headspace. Karen even took a photo for Jacqueline. This was a twig of an olive branch, but it was something. Gizelle even promised not to shade Stacey. Stacey was like, “So you’re saying there’s a chance!” Then Wendy arrived bearing gifts. But Mia was MIA. Gordon had dropped off the kids with another nanny, and she didn’t know where they were. It’s been a heck of a trip to Panama so far, and it’s only just begun.
