The Duchess of Sussex is famous for wearing beige and neutral colours, claiming on her Netflix docu-series that this was a conscious decision to not outshine the late Queen Elizabeth II - who was well-known for her colourful ensembles. While Meghan Markle often opts for beige, she has been known to mix it up with pops of colour, with one of her most popular colours being scarlet red.
Meghan, 43, has been spotted wearing glamorous red dresses at numerous public outings, highlighting it as one of her favourite colours. While some might think the Duchess wears it to enhance her darker features, there is actually a deeper message it conveys.
Kate Jones, stylist at House of Colour, says: "The colour red traditionally represents power, opulence, passion and love. It's bold and exciting, especially if worn top to toe.

Speaking to MailOnline, she added: "Primary red is a colour that suits absolutely every skin tone and yet many people are too shy to wear it. Whether Meghan has had her colours analysed or not, she's probably been advised that it suits her - and she does look fabulous in red; it illuminates her skin, helping it to sparkle and shine."
Meghan was recently spotted in her primary colour at a charity gala in Los Angeles, where she donned a £5,233 Carolina Herrera silk gown. In 2021, she was seen wearing a gown at the Salute to Freedom Gala in New York.
In 2020, she was seen in a scarlet dress made by Safiyaa, costing £1,295 at the Mountbatten Festival of Music. Meghan's also known for ensuring her accessories match her outfits to perfection, often sporting red clutch bags and heels for events.

I wore a lot of muted tones... I also wore it so I could just blend in. I'm not trying to stand out here. I don't want to embarrass the family."
In 2022, Meghan was spotted wearing a red co-ordinating blouse and trouser set, costing over £1,000 in total. She completed the look with a matching scarlet scarf.
The late Queen Elizabeth II famously wore colour to ensure she could be seen easily while attending events. "Red is a colour that makes you stand out from the crowd - something that would appeal to Meghan," Kate says.
Meghan's love of red can even be traced back to before she met the Duke of Sussex, after she was spotted sporting a red mini dress in 2006 on the US version of TV game show Deal or No Deal.
