Red Sox fans have their opinions about the Rafael Devers-Alex Bregman controversy, but how does Boston's top personnel executive feel about it?

Spring training kicked off with Devers bluntly telling reporters he'd refuse to move off third base to accommodate Bregman, who can play both second and third. Devers' remarks generated the wrong kind of buzz and led to even worse comments from first baseman Triston Casas.

Chief baseball officer Craig Breslow addressed the situation during a recent conversation with MassLive's Sean McAdam.

"These things tend to have a way of working themselves out," Breslow told McAdam. "This is not the first situation where a player's been outspoken about something that they take a lot of pride in. And that's OK. Like I said, they tend to work themselves out."

The Devers-Bregman drama also could have a direct impact on top prospect Kristian Campbell, who is viewed as the Red Sox's second baseman of the future. Ultimately, Breslow believes Boston could have much worse problems.

"I think having really good players that are talking about positions is not a terrible place to be in," Breslow said. "I said it when we were talking about Alex and introducing him, that my obligation is to put the best team on the field, on both offense and defense that I can possibly can."
