Reese Witherspoon and Kate Winslet presented together at Oscars 9 years after awkward awards show speech

Reese Witherspoon and Kate Winslet came together at the 2016 Oscars after their friendship allegedly ended due to a “pretty bad” faux pas.

The two A-list actresses were asked to announce a few of the best picture nominees at the 88th Annual Academy Awards — nine years after their rumored friendship breakup.

The Oscar winners showed off their acting chops as they presented “Spotlight” and “Bridge of Spies” without any signs of tension.

In fact, backstage photos showed them happily chatting and hugging before walking on stage despite their alleged awkward fallout.

Earlier this week, Witherspoon revealed that a fellow Hollywood star “stopped talking” to her after she flubbed an important speech in her honor.

“So this friend of mine — who I didn’t really know that well, but she was a very serious, proper actress — she asked me to give her an award,” the “Legally Blonde” star recalled in an interview with People.

“But I had never been to this award ceremony, so I thought it was like a roast. So I got up and I roasted her.”

However, Witherspoon said her jokes didn’t land because the “tone [of the gala] was British and elegant and classy” — not a witty roast.

Witherspoon recalled joking about getting “laser hair removal” with the unnamed actress, which she is admittedly “still embarrassed about.”

While the “Cruel Intentions” star “thought it was so funny,” her former friend disagreed.

“We’re not friends anymore. I’m not even kidding — we’re not friends anymore. I think she doesn’t like me anymore,” she said with a laugh.

Although Witherspoon refused to name-drop the actress in question, internet sleuths quickly theorized Winslet was the actress in question.

Witherspoon honored Winslet at the prestigious BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards in 2007 after the “Titanic” star was named artist of the year.

“I always wanted to be a European movie star, wear giant sunglasses, elaborate neck scarves, smoke hand-rolled cigarettes and have savoir-faire and gravitas,” Witherspoon kicked off the speech, according to a transcript shared online.

“Imagine my good fortune when Kate Winslet moved into my neighborhood, rang my doorbell and said, ‘Darling, Sam [Mendes] is off shooting, and I believe our children are the same age. Could they possibly have a play date and oh, by the way, it’s almost 9 o’clock and I’ve had nothing to do drink, do you have any wine?'”

While Witherspoon praised Winslet for her “fearlessness”, she also recalled the moment she “peed all over herself in front of Harvey Keitel” in 1999’s “Holy Smoke.”

The “Big Little Lies” star joked that she couldn’t tell many personal stories because “they’re all too bawdy or tawdry or drunken to tell” — but she allegedly teased one about “contemplating laser hair removal,” per the fan site.

Although Witherspoon and Winslet aren’t as close as they once were, they’re seemingly still cordial and friendly when needed.
