Hard water will cause unsightly water marks on shower glass, but they can easily be removed.

In the UK, residents are plagued with hard water, which is when the water from the taps contains minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

This is due to the geology of the UK landscape, which is made up of sedimentary rocks such as chalk and limestone.

While the minerals in tap water are safe, they can lead to calcium deposits around the home, resulting in limescale around appliances and on the shower glass.

In order to remove limescale and soap scum from the shower glass, cleaning guru and janitor Brandon revealed his "favourite DIY mixture".

Brandon posted to his YouTube channel Clean That Up that his favourite DIY mix contains one cup of white vinegar, one cup of water and a teaspoon of dish soap.

In the video, Brandon sprayed the shower glass with the cleaning mixture and emphasised the importance of letting the mixture sit on the glass.

For the white vinegar and soap dish solution to work its magic, it needs about "five to 10 minutes" to sit on the shower glass to "break down hard water build-up".

The cleaning professional then went in with a "non-scratch sponge" to scrub away the hard water deposits.

Once the scrubbing was done, the shower glass was rinsed with water and dried with a microfibre cloth for a "streak-free" finish.

Adding other methods to cleaning the shower glass, he is a fan of manufacturer cleaners.

Fans were delighted with Brandon's video, with one saying: "I've just discovered this channel and have learned so much after only a few videos. Truly fantastic, thank you for your wonderful insight. Now to clean my shower."

Another posted: "I love your helpful videos. You’ve changed my cleaning life! Thank you!"

Somebody else noted their own cleaning method: "This works like a charm. In addition to this, I also rubbed some baking soda on the glass surface. Give it five to 10 then rinse with hot water. Cheers."
