"So, there is a group of people in California that could fuel a revolt of liberals or Democrats," Hanson said in an interview with Fox News Digital, categorizing it as a "reawakening."
"So, the shock of L.A. is most of the people that were burned out in Pacific Palisades or on the areas around it were very, very left-wing and very wealthy," he continued. "And this was what's shocking politically because the consequences of their votes and their ideology had never really personally affected them to this degree."
"This is going to be an accelerant or a force multiplier. That's because it affects two different groups of people," the Hoover Institution public policy think tank senior fellow explained. "It affects the very wealthy. For the first time, they got firebombed. Looks like Dresden, and that's going to be $300 or $400 billion when it's all over. And they're going to have to deal with the Coastal Commission, the Los Angeles Planning Commission and permits for building. And they're going to be irate when they have to do that."
"The net result is, I don't think any California politician is going to have a national profile after this," Hanson noted.
The theory is not far off. Newsom, 57, faced intense backlash after firefighters ran out of water to put out the infernos and dealt with a malfunctioning reservoir amid the chaos.
On Sunday, January 12, the left-wing politician signed an executive order to suspend certain state commission requirements, aiming to speed up the rebuilding process for homeowners.
"If he could do it now, why didn't he do it before the fire?" Hanson questioned of the late move.
Bass, 71, was also slammed for being missing in action when the city was first set ablaze. Additionally, her lack of leadership and her dismissal of direct questions from the press only made things worse.
The public continued to be outraged after learning the former physician assistant reportedly cut $17.6 million dollars from the Los Angeles Fire Department's budget in the months leading up to the tragedies.
"They're getting very, very angry that it's hard to do business and they are angry at the gasoline prices," Hanson added of the current climate of inflation, sky-high taxes and lack of organization in government.
"And so, I think there's the potential, if there were a clever, adroit, enlightened Republican candidate or political figure that could capitalize on. So far, the Republican Party doesn't know what to do. They don't know whether to go left and try to accommodate this left-wing population or go further right and galvanize it," the political guru said. "There's no dissenting voices … and I think that's going to change after what we saw."
Many celebrities — who typically tend to lean left — have publicly condemned the leadership in California. Actress Sara Foster took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express her disdain for how the people in charge could not properly care for their citizens.
"We pay the highest taxes in California," Foster, 43, penned. "Our fire hydrants were empty. Our vegetation was overgrown, brush not cleared. Our reservoirs were emptied by our governor because tribal leaders wanted to save fish. Our fire department budget was cut by our mayor. But thank god drug addicts are getting their drug kits."
Sarah Michelle Gellar revealed how upset she was over the disorganization of the evacuation process.
"City of L.A. you want everyone to evacuate yet you have complete gridlock and not one traffic cop on the roads helping," she penned in an Instagram Story while tagging Bass.
Mel Gibson — who tragically lost his house in the fires — came down hard on Newsom and Bass for their lack of preparation for the disaster.
"Well, first, I thought it was, 'Oh gee, bad luck, tragedy.' But then I came to realize that it was monumental mismanagement by our elected officials and that's the nicest thing you can say about it," the actor, 69, alleged during an appearance on the "Arroyo Grande with Raymond Arroyo" podcast.
