Richard Hammond's daughter, Izzy, branded her father an 'idiot' as she discussed the dangers of his job.
The TV star has gotten into several crashes over the years while working on Top Gear and The Grand Tour. In 2006, he was involved in a horrific car crash while filming for the former and ended up in a coma in intensive care for several weeks after suffering a brain injury. His wife, who he recently split from, was by his side the entire time.
Richard previously suggested that Mindy's "screaming" at his bedside helped awaken him from the coma. He reflected on the experience in a video uploaded to YouTube in 2022, in which he recalled what he dreamt about in the coma. He shared that he had been experiencing a "dream" that was "really vivid" whilst "a lot of morphine" flowed through his system towards the end of his time in the coma. He said that it involved him walking in the Lake District.

Road To Success Podcast)His daughter Izzy recently claimed he wasn't around a lot during her childhood as he was always filming for Top Gear and The Grand Tour. Appearing on Ben Fowler's podcast Road To Success a few days before Richard and his wife Mindy announced their split, Izzy was asked: "Would you call your dad a daredevil or an idiot?"
She answered: "We've done handbrake turns around roundabouts, sorry I know that's incredibly illegal you might have to cut that out. He's an idiot. He has that thing that racing drivers have where they just don't have the fear. Everyone has that line where it's like 'Okay I know where the line is', he just doesn't have that. He really genuinely would just go and go and go."

During the podcast, Izzy said her father wasn't always around for her and her sister Willow. She said: "I always think it must be frustrating for my mum because probably some of my happiest memories are ironically with my dad because he wasn't there that much because he was filming.
"He wasn't there a lot and that's all I really knew growing up." It comes as Richard and Mindy shocked fans by announcing their split after 28 years together. They said: "A little update from us; this Christmas we were together as a family and this year we will still be a family but just structured a bit differently.
"Our marriage is coming to end, but we’ve had an amazing 28 years together and two incredible daughters. We will always be in each other’s lives and are proud of the family we created. We won’t be commenting further and sincerely hope that our privacy and that of our children will be respected at this time. With Love, Richard and Mindy.”
