Gavin and Stacey legend Rob Brydon has appeared to have varying levels of hair health over the years, causing speculation that he may have had a hair transplant
Rob Brydon's loveable Uncle Bryn is back on screens tonight for the final Gavin and Stacey special.
While fans of the BBC sitcom have been speculating what exactly happened on that fishing trip, or figuring out what one iconic joke really means, others have focused on actor Rob Brydon – or his hair, in particular.
The star, who has been open about his skin issues, appears to be much more follicly blessed than he was a 20 years ago – despite being older (obviously).
Rob is known for his thick brown hair, which he burst onto the scene with at the beginning of his career. But fast forward to the early noughties, around 2005, and, according to Harley Street Hair Clinic, he was showing signs of male pattern hair loss.
He could be seen to have thinning at the top of his head, as well as a receding hairline. By 2008, the clinic claims he appeared to be at stage four of the Norwood scale, which is a guide that documents the stages of male baldness.
According to the clinic, Rob was bang in the middle at that time. Heva Clinic describes Rob as having "healthy and plenty" of hair at the back of his head, while the front was thinning.
However it appears that at some point between 2008 and now, Rob might have had a hair transplant, the clinic claims. And on top of that, it looks like it worked very well indeed.
Now at 59 years old, his healthy head of hair is back, with his trademark swooping quiff. Rob himself hasn't confirmed whether he had the procedure, though.
However given the drastic difference, Harley Street Hair Clinic believes he had a FUE hair transplant. This involves a surgeon painstakingly removing single hair follicles from one area and moving them to the place of balding.
It's a more natural-looking method, which makes it a popular choice.
But there is a chance Rob went down a less invasive route too, instead opting for hair loss medication. For this, there are two popular options.
One, minoxidil, is usually taken topically on a daily basis. Meanwhile, finasteride, which can only be taken by men, blocks the hormone DHT, which can help them regrow their hair.
So, while it appears fans may have to keep speculating about Rob's hair, they will be hoping they won't have any unanswered questions after the final Gavin and Stacey, set to air on Christmas Day.
