Sir Rod Stewart is reuniting with his Faces bandmates Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones for a new documentary.

The 79-year-old Hot Legs singer has been in his band with 77-year-old Rolling Stones star Ronnie and 76-year-old The Who musician Kenny since it was formed in 1969. The group has performed on and off in the years since - with other members coming and going - and officially got back together in 2021 to play shows but have not released any new music since 1974.

Now the boys are planning a new project - an in depth documentary about their music past and present. The boys have also teased that fans will indeed get to hear some brand new material from the band after an agonising 50 year wait.

Speaking on the Soccer A-Z podcast, Rod said: "I'm meeting up with the last two members of the Faces tomorrow, and we're working on a documentary, because next year will be our 50th anniversary, or 60s. I don't know what it is, but when the faces were together, and we're trying to put out an album. So I shall be with Mr. Woods and Mr. Jones."

Sir Rod went on to discuss his continued success as a solo artist and gushed about his ability to continue to tour as he hurtles towards his 80s. He explained: "As far as gigs, I got three before Christmas, then next year is really, really busy over the US and Europe. I love it, I love it, I’ve got the best job in the world… I'm happy, I have a drink after the show and I get paid for it. What a job."

The Faces formed in 1969 and released their debut album, First Step, the following year. Their final album, titled Ooh La La, was unleashed in 1973 and scored the group their only number one record in the UK. They released their last single - with the exceptionally long titled You Can Make Me Dance, Sing or Anything (Even Take the Dog for a Walk, Mend a Fuse, Fold Away the Ironing Board, or Any Other Domestic Shortcomings) - in 1974 as a double a-side with the accompanying track As Long as You Tell Him.

The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2012 and they have released a string of compilation and live albums since their last studio record. Rolling Stones collaborator Ian McLagan was also a founding member of the band, and he sadly died aged 69 in December 2014. The other original member, Ronnie Lane, died in 1997 at the age of 51.

Earlier this year, Rod proved he still has the music touch when he teamed up with Jools Holland to release their collaborative album titled Swing Fever - which romped to the top of the album charts when released back in February. The record marked Holland's first number-one album and Stewart's 11th.
