Royal fans were thrilled to discover a vintage photo portraying a young royal bearing an uncanny similarity to Princess Charlotte.
The Royal Collection Trust, the custodian of the royal art portfolio, shared an archival Christmas card on their social media showcasing a youthful Queen Elizabeth, 12, and Princess Margaret at eight years old.
Captured in 1938 by photographer Marcus Adams, yet revealed in 1939, this charming snapshot features the future monarch and her sister seated as they gaze directly into the camera. The festive greeting on the card read: "With best wishes for Christmas from Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Rose."
Accompanying this was an illustration of two children beneath mistletoe, clutching a badge emblazoned with the French and British ensigns, Cambridgeshire Live reports.
The Royal Collection Trust's post (@royalcollectiontrust) noted: "This photo of the then Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret was taken in 1939 by Marcus Adams."

The image was met with joy by enthusiasts, some of whom drew comparisons between the late Queen and her great-granddaughter, while others commented on Elizabeth's resemblance to her father, King George VI. One comment on Instagram declared: "And apart from the curly hair, that is Princess Charlotte."
Several others agreed as another chimed in: "Twinning! " Excitement continued to surge among royal devotees, as somebody else remarked: "Princess Elizabeth is the image of her father King George VI, when he was a boy."
Eagle-eyed fans noticed an intriguing fact, with the Royal Collection Trust explaining: "The photograph was originally taken by Marcus Adams in December 1938; this card was produced by Raphael Tuck and Sons, which printed Christmas cards."
The trust further stated: "We don't have any additional context, but we think it was made in December 1938 following the important royal state visit to France in 1938."
