Rumored Phillies-White Sox Blockbuster Trade Centers Around Three Star Players

Let's cut right to the chase. There's a lot to unpack here.

According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox are discussing a Garrett Crochet trade involving two top Phillies assets. These two teams have long been connected to make a deal for Crochet, but now it seems as though that blockbuster move is coming to fruition.

"They have spoken about Bohm and outfield prospect Justin Crawford in extensive trade talks with the Chicago White Sox for starter Garrett Crochet, but the White Sox are concerned with Bohm's struggles the second half, posting a .681 OPS with just four home runs," Nightengale wrote.

The obvious question left is who would play third base for Philadelphia? Nightengale also mentions Alex Bregman or Willy Adames as two potential fill-ins there, but it's hard to imagine Philadelphia trading its All-Star third baseman before securing a solid replacement.

The deal is also rumored to involve Phillies No. 3 prospect Justin Crawford. Crawford is just 20 years old but he's posted an OPS of.800 or higher each of the last two years while having some of the best speed in the minor leagues.

Another move that Nightengale didn't mention involves Philadelphia's top prospect, Aidan Miller. Miller is a natural shortstop, but if Bohm is traded, the Phillies could elevate Miller and play either him or Trea Turner at third base. It's an option on the table as Miller has destroyed minor-league pitching.

Either way, the Phillies seem to be the favorites to land the highly-coveted White Sox ace this winter and it may just give them the best rotation in baseball.
