Ruth Langsford has opened up on the struggles she has faced, including weight loss, after her very public split from Eamonn Holmes. The Loose Women star shared that she has sought medical advice following the divorce, for hormonal balance and potentially waving goodbye to menopause.

Last year, Ruth, 64, and Eamonn, 65, who share 22 year old son Jack, made public their decision to part ways after more than a decade as husband and wife.

Now, spaking to Woman and Home magazine, Ruth shared the personal factors contributing to her recent slimming. She shared: "I have lost weight.

"Divorce obviously has something to do with it but I also went for a hormone check and rebalance, which helped. It could also hopefully mean that I'm coming to the end of menopause."

Discussing the emotional toll of the split, Ruth admitted the ordeal was challenging, stating the importance of resilience in the face of hardship. She confided: "Relationship breakdowns are very difficult, but you deal with it and have to move on.

"You can let yourself crumble or you pick yourself up and get on with life. It's a choice. I'm not delighted my marriage is over, but I've accepted it."

On the topic of her newfound single status, Ruth expressed: "I'm trying to now embrace the fact I'm single and can make choices that are just about me. Divorce is very painful."

Recently the ITV presenter was supported as she shared an update on a loved one. Her little dog, Maggie, has been by her side throughout the separation but has been facing some health issues.

Taking to Instagram, she shared a clip of Maggie sniffing around in the grass with a little limp.

As the dog appeared to be struggling to walk, Ruth explained in the caption: "So last Monday Maggie jumped off the sofa when we were visiting my Mum and hurt her back leg….she couldn’t walk at all.

"I took her (carried her!) straight to our amazing vet @stgeorgesveterinarycentre who checked her over and reassured me nothing was broken thank goodness."

She continued, sharing an insight into the dog's recovery, saying: "Maggie’s been on pain relief and 'bed rest' all week but today I could see she wanted to venture out….so this is her first little walk outside the garden!"
