Former Sunrise host Samantha Armytage and her husband Richard Lavender have separated after four years of marriage.

The Daily Telegraph reports the pair separated several months ago, and Armytage has since moved out of Lavender’s property in the NSW Southern Highlands and returned to Sydney.

“Yes, Richard and I have separated. All breakups are hard, but it’s somewhat lessened by the fact it’s amicable and we wish the best for each other,” Armytage told the outlet.

The pair started dating in April 2019, before tying the knot in an intimate New Year’s Eve ceremony at the the well-known horse breeder’s 40-hectare property in 2020.

She had announced their engagement in June of that year, revealing that “Rich” had popped the question.

“We’d been picking weeds in the paddock and he said ‘darling, do you want to marry me?’” she told Sunrise at the time.

“It was very sweet, very romantic. He’s just a very decent, lovely fellow.

“He is totally the opposite of the showbiz world and TV.”

In August, Armytage announced she was leaving the Seven Network after 21 years.

“21 is a coming-of-age,” she began her Instagram post, “And so, after that many years, I am departing Channel 7 with lots of happy memories, a full heart and huge thanks to the many fantastic colleagues along the journey.

“There’s too many highlights to list ~ I have hosted almost every show in the network (from Sunrise dawn to Farmer’s dusk) ~ and covered many of the important news stories of the past two decades.

“I started at 7 as a fresh-faced 26-year-old journalist and will leave as a ... ahem … more mature-faced woman — who’s worked hard, had THE most incredible experiences and also a lot of fun.”

“I hope I’ve brought a little bit of info and sparkle into your living rooms so far to ALL who watched, thank you for tuning in for so many years. This is not the end, just the end of this chapter.”
